Just a 15 minute drive from Anchorage Beach Resort lies Garden of the Sleeping Giant - a cluster of attractive landscaped gardens specializing in orchids – local and from around the world, as well as Fiji’s native plants. The garden also has a dense jungle walk that takes visitors past a large lily pond and through native forest.
Garden of the Sleeping Giant was started in1977 by the late actor Raymond Burr, star of the Perry Mason television series to house his private collection of orchids. Covering some 20 hectares, the gardens currently feature over two thousand varieties of orchids in addition to the large collection of exotic, tropical plants.
You can enjoy nature at its very best at Garden of the Sleeping Giant. You will feel nothing but peace and serenity in this special place, surrounded by greenery and tropical blooms - where the only sound is that of birds chirping. So bring along a picnic and wander through the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, you will not be disappointed. The Garden is open Monday to Saturday – 9 am to 5 pm.
